The Mavisbank Trust

Established in 2002 the trust aims to preserve and restore Mavisbank House and its surrounding designed landscape for the benefit of the people of Scotland.

At present the proposal by the Landmark Trust to develop and deliver the restoration of the house is progressing well.  The Mavisbank Trust is very supportive of the Landmark Trust’s plans for the house.

The Mavisbank Trust is now focusing its efforts on the landscape and policies.  We aim to develop and deliver a project that will repair, restore, and maintain these areas, securing a sustainable future for the valley’s rich flora and fauna.  Alongside this, improvements to the footpath network and clearer, more accessible routes into the landscape will make it easier for both the local community and the wider public to enjoy this historic area.  These enhancements will support everyday access as well as small events and community gatherings.

“…to preserve for the benefit of the people of Scotland, such of the historical, architectural and constructional heritage in land and buildings situated in Scotland as may be of particular beauty or historical interest, including, without prejudice to the foregoing generality, the property known as Mavisbank House at Loanhead, Midlothian together with the landscape and policies relating to the same”
